Local Fat Girls take the comical wheel on self acceptance

Posted on in Artists

Are you ‘tyred’ of the same-old negative outlook on body image? Become more comfortable in your own skin while having a laugh along the way…

Geraldton powerhouse duo Rosie Sitorus and Kellee Aberg are headed back home to bedazzle audiences with their hilariously spectacular show Fat Girls in Bike Shorts at Geraldton’s Funtavia festival on 9 February.

With an array of glam-fabulous costumes and the showiest of show tunes, Fat Girls in Bike Shorts offers a hilarious glimpse into the life of two fat girls who are grabbing life by the ‘handles’ and holding on for the ride.

In previous years the show received four stars for performances at the Adelaide Fringe Festival and completely sold-out at Fringe World last year in Perth and Mandurah.

Show co-creator Rosie Sitorus said “If you love life as much as you do snacking unnecessarily between meals, do yourself a favour and book a ticket to this show.”

Kellee Aberg says “It’s a different show this year in many aspects. We as performers & characters have grown, so you can expect a lot of new work and new songs – we’ve definitely come full circle.”

“The show is a journey in itself and also a personal journey we have both been on. We’ve realised that worth isn’t based on your appearance but in fact everything else,” said Rosie Sitoru.

“We want to emphasise that our show is for everyone regardless of your body type. There are parts throughout that everyone can relate to,” said Rosie.

Produced by local arts production enterprise The Comedy Emporium, Fat Girls in Bike Shorts is one of the most successful Fringe shows coming out of regional Western Australia.

This year, Fat Girls in Bike Shorts will be performing in Geraldton at the Cargo Hold at Funtavia on February 9 for ONE NIGHT ONLY!

Tickets are from $15>>

Fringe audiences went wild for Fat Girls in Bike Shorts last year and with even more glitter, tighter bike shorts and showey-er show tunes set for this year’s show, Fat Girls in Bike Shorts should definitely be on your must-see list for Fringe 2018.

“Insightful and incisive, and – most importantly – had the packed out theatre in hysterics from start to finish.” – Rotunda Media
